Sligo referee Keenan Deering (22) has been promoted to the national league panel of elite referees.
Keenan, a member of the Sligo branch of the Irish Soccer Referees’ Society, took up refereeing in 2016 and since completing his Beginners’ Course he began officiating in the Sligo/Leitrim Youths and School Boys and Girls Leagues. He also progressed to refereeing matches in the under 19, 15 and 13 National League of Ireland.
He has now joined the National League panel of referees and has been officiating at this level since the start of the new season. He joins Darren Corcoran as the second official from Sligo on the panel.
Keenan is following in the footsteps of his father, Paul who was a national league referee for 15 years, retiring in 2012. Paul is now an FAI Referees’ Observer operating at local and national level.
